Parenting Through Separation and Divorce:
Making Two Homes Work
The Parenting Through Separation and Divorce class is specifically designed to help separating or divorcing parents who have children under the age of nineteen support a child's emotional well being during or after a transition from one home to two homes.
Why We Teach
Since 1994 we have been teaching families how to cope with separation and divorce involving children.
Our award winning curriculum was used as a model for the state of Virginia when it made the statute requiring separating and divorcing couples to take a 4 hour class on parenting through separation or divorce. We are also an observation site for the state, helping new instructors meet training requirements.
Many of our instructors have been through a separation or divorce involving children and all of them have a background in counseling.

We care about the participants who come through, offering free materials and local resources for follow-up.
Class Leaders
Class leaders are psychologists, counselors, mediators, and marriage and family therapists with extensive experience in divorce, mediation and child counseling or development.
Class Format
The class format provides videos, handouts and small group work to supplement the presentations. Each participant receives a Handbook with resources to take home and a certificate of completion. The class lasts four hours.
Cost
The class fee is $50 per person, payable in advance.
